About The Peninsula at Treviso Bay

The Peninsula is a gated enclave limited to only 55 homes, each situated on the lake and overlooking the TPC golf course. With its coastal contemporary architectural style and spacious floor plan designs, the Peninsula offers an award-winning luxury golf and lakefront lifestyle within the amenity-rich Treviso Bay, a 1,000+ acre gated South Naples community located off Tamiami Trail East just minutes from downtown Naples.

Homes in the Peninsula are custom built by Imperial Homes of Naples, and designed by architect Jon Kukk of Kukk Architecture & Design. Each residence is constructed with AERCON AAC concrete block: the stronger, more energy-efficient alternative to conventional concrete.

Not only do the estate homes of the Peninsula at Treviso Bay feature modern architecture, six distinct floor plans and sophisticated coastal contemporary designs, they also are being constructed using an exceptional product, AERCON Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC).

Imperial Homes of Naples, led by Development Manager Curtis Gunther, is the sole builder within the prestigious community.

“At the time we started the Peninsula project, we were the only homebuilder in Florida using AERCON AAC in residences, making it a very attractive selling point for potential buyers,” said Gunther. “Its properties have several important advantages over conventional building materials, and it is great for residential applications.”

The benefits of AERCON AAC include superior fire protection (with the highest 4 UL Fire rating), versatility and durability, acoustic and thermal insulation, energy efficiency, and resistance to moisture, rodents and insects. AAC block is also 50% lighter and 50% larger than conventional concrete. AAC can be used in single and multi-story buildings and is ideal for residential, commercial, educational, industrial and public structures. Universities, military bases, hotels, high schools, private homes and churches have all implemented AAC into their infrastructure to ensure strength, energy efficiency, and durability.

AERCON AAC, based in Haines City, Florida, is the leading manufacturer of precast autoclaved aerated concrete products and the only AAC manufacturer in the United States of America.

AAC has been used in the USA in mainly commercial projects for almost 30 years. Although it is relatively new to the American residential market, it has been a favored building material in Europe and Asia for more than 70 years. It was developed by a Swedish architect and patented in 1924 to combat the disadvantages of small, heavy building material with poor insulation properties, combustibility, and decay and termite damage tendencies. The architect needed a lightweight building material with the properties of wood: good thermal insulation, solid structure, and ease of use.

AAC is a mineral-based building material made from sand, water and limestone. These natural materials are major components of the earth’s crust and can be found in almost unlimited quantities throughout the world. They are processed with Portland cement and a rising agent to provide a porous building material which gives the product its exceptional properties: fire resistant/non-combustible, superior thermal insulation, excellent acoustic insulation, lightweight, termite, rodent and pest resistant, ease of workability and handling, universal application, non-allergenic, and efficient construction. Since the sources of the raw materials are abundant, the environment is not robbed of irreplaceable resources in the AAC’s production.

An environmentally-protective production process allows raw materials to provide a building material with a large number of air pores – aerated concrete. In a unique hydration process, the batched mixture of raw materials “rises” and yields three units of volume of AAC for every two units of volume of raw materials. After the risen mass stiffens, it is cut into the desired dimensions and then steam-cured under pressure in an autoclave. During the production process, there is no emission of toxic or environmentally hazardous by-products. During the trimming process, the trimmings are returned to the initial mixture, eliminating the loss of raw materials. Energy is saved in the curing process where steam used in the autoclaves is reclaimed for reuse. These technically advanced processes conserve valuable energy resources. The steam curing production method helps conserve energy since steam curing is carried out at relatively low temperatures and thermal energy is recovered for maximum efficiency.

AERCON AAC products’ lightweight characteristics create energy savings throughout the building process. Energy consumption and costs for delivering AAC products to the project site are reduced due to its light weight. Manpower and equipment required to install AERCON building systems can be efficiently utilized in all phases of construction. The ease in which the material is cut, shaped and placed allows for easy fit-up while consuming less physical energy and requiring fewer fuel-driven machines. AAC’s high insulating properties also provide ongoing energy savings by increasing a building’s thermal efficiency. Since the use of this material can also allow the owner to take advantage of “off-peak” energy use, additional savings can be achieved and reduced demand of “on-peak” energy can be realized for power companies. Pure AAC, not containing any foreign materials, may be recycled into other products.

“Environmentally friendly and energy-conserving, AERCON AAC meets all the requirements of modern homebuilding,” explained Gunther. “No pollutants or hazardous wastes are generated in the process, and there is no waste of precious natural resources. It’s a win-win for builders and homeowners alike, and we’re proud to utilize it in the Peninsula at Treviso Bay.”
